Crush Your Goals by Reviewing Them Daily
Medical Affairs folks are ambitious goal-setting people. But we are also just so dang busy. This results in goals getting pushed to the side. Here is a great hack to help you crush your goals: review your goals daily. This will help you better prioritize those important but not urgent items (like strategic thinking!).
Remember your goals are promises to yourself. These are things YOU want to accomplish. I know you are busy. Keep reading for 3 practical ways to review your goals daily. Implement these tips and crush your goals 🎯! You can do this!
Crush Your Goals Tips 1: Review Your Goals Before Planning
Before you plan out your day, spend a few minutes reviewing your goals. This will put your goals top of mind. Then schedule time each day to work on them. Get into the mindset of “when will I work on my goals today?” Then get it on your calendar. Thinking on the weekly level and planning this out in your weekly reset also works great! Even better: roll these up to your monthly goals.
People that actually schedule time for their priorities are more likely to work on them. Learn more about aligning your calendar to strategic priorities in this article.
Crush Your Goals Tip 2: Create Vibes
This is my favorite tip! When you review your goals for the day, create a fun environment. Sit outside on your back patio. Find a quiet spot and time. Light a candle. Do something to make your daily goal-reviewing atmosphere fun and inviting.
Every morning before I start reviewing my goals and planning my day, I get a huge delicious cup of coffee and turn on my favorite music. It creates an atmosphere that I love and makes me look forward to reviewing my goals.
Crush Your Goals Tip 3: Reflect on the Progress You are Making Towards Goals
At the end of the day, reflect on what progress you made towards accomplishing your goals. This is also a great way to demonstrate your value. For example, if you are an MSL with a goal of meeting 20 KOLs per month, write down the progress you made toward meeting that goal.
When you see that you are making progress towards goals this will motivate you to work on them more. Plus this goal reflection exercise helps keep your goals top of mind. Then you are more likely to schedule time to work on them. It’s a virtuous circle of goal-crushing 🙂.
